We took this photo in 1997, on our first trip to Cambodia. After nearly 30 years of conflict, Cambodia is one of the most heavily landmined countries in the world, and its very common to see men like this one missing limbs, not only in hospitals but on the streets and in the markets as well. In 1997, civil war was threatening to engulf Cambodia once again as the militias of the two co-Prime Ministers were fighting in the streets.
